Mat holds open or closed books in orderly fashion and easily read by partner from across the table as mat can be slid with ease towards them. Approx. 8 1/2" wide x 18 1/2 " in length. Colorful,fun backs are 100% cotton, pleated fronts are a poly/cotton mix that helps reduce fading and wrinkles. Hand wash and dry flat, iron touch up may be needed due to cotton content. 7 pocket mats approx 8 1/2" x9 1/2" sold with the 16 pocket mats are optional. BUT are suitable mostly for Canasta and Hand & Foot. You may find them too small for the different versions of Samba as some of the Samba games may have a dozen or more closed books by game's end
